The Millennium Commission plans to launch an extension to its Millennium Awards scheme in April or May. The distributor, which is still trying to find ways of disposing of more cash than it ever expected to receive, has set up a £5.5m fund to give away more small grants to individuals. The new fund will be

split between the four countries of the UK as follows: England £3.25m, Scotland £1m, Wales £750k and Northern Ireland £500,000. The criteria for applying will be kept very general. The Commission expects to announce four award partners to run the four sub-schemes over the next few weeks.
