The launch of ACE’s next lottery-funded capital programme has been delayed until February. ACE is still working through the top-to-bottom organisational changes that have welded the London HQ and nine regional arts bodies into a single entity. It expects, however, to be able to go public in February on a major reorganisation of its funding programmes (promising much easier access for applicants), a branding facelift and the launch of Capital Round two.
In advance of the formal launch, David McNeill, ACE’s communications director, warns that the capital pot will be smaller this time, and substantially tied to specific priorities. These are:

  • Round one projects that received development funding to work up full-scale applications
  • Projects that fill gaps in the current geographical distribution of funding
  • Disability arts
  • Cultural diversity projects
  • Artists’ workspaces

ACE will again solicit bids from particular organisations, a mechanism which it sees as having been very successful in Round 1. Any organisation preparing to invest serious time and money in developing an application for Round 2 ahead of the pro-gramme’s formal launch is advised to contact ACE’s capital services department to check the likely eligibility of your project as soon as possible.
