The New Opportunities Fund has launched a recycling scheme under its Round 3 ‘Transforming Communities’ environmental strand. NOF’s award partner the Royal Society for Nature Conservation will run the England-only Community Recycling and Economic Development (CRED) programme, worth £35.2m up to 2006.

This is an open-bid programme, making awards of £50K to £300K, aimed at community organisations and registered charities. It will support new and the expansion of existing recycling, reuse or composting schemes, as well as educational measures. Match funding of 30% to 50% is required, depending on grant size. RSNC and several consortium partners who have helped develop this pro gramme are promising pre- and post-application support and advice, and undertake to provide written feedback to unsuccessful applicants.

Application packs are available from NOF enquiry line on 0845 0000 121
