Film statistics
The UK Film Council has produced a statistical yearbook of film in the UK for the first time. The 2002 yearbook is a wide-ranging compilation and analysis of film industry data pulled together by the council’s research and statistical unit, focusing on the role and contribution of film production and distribution to the UK and global economies. The yearbook estimates film production’s contribution to the UK economy in 2002 as £560m, and says the industry employs 30,000 to 50,000. There are 80-odd pages of tabular and graphical material, covering film, video, DVD, TV; production, distribution and exhibition; domestic market, UK film internationally and overseas productions in the UK.
