Examples of purposes for a project planning grants are: produce an access plan; produce a conservation management plan; research audience development; enable a voluntary group to employ a project planning officer. The new application pack should be out by July.

2004-05 750 to 850 awards

Repair Grants for Places of Worship, up to £200,000 Replaces the England-only Joint Places of Worship programme. Will focus on urgent repair needs, and will be delivered in partnership in each coun try, with English Heritage, Historic Scotland, Cadw, and the N Ireland Environment and Heritage Service. Grants will fund 130 to 170 applications annually.
Landscape Partnerships
This new programme intended to assist rural regeneration requires partnerships to submit portfolio bids encompassing a range of heritage and community benefits. HLF expects to fund 8-12 bids a year.
Local Heritage Initiative, £3,000 to £25,000 The Countryside Agency has been running this scheme for HLF in England, aimed at getting communities to identify, plan for and execute conservation of small-scale heritage assets of local value. Pilot schemes are now being run by Scottish Natural Heritage and the Countryside Council for Wales. After review later this year, the scheme may be rolled out to urban areas in the coming year. Estimates of support are given for England only: 270 to 330 projects a year.
