Following on the heels of the Home Office’s revamp of its Active Community Unit at the end of May, the ACU will launch a new website on 28 June, vol-comgrants.gov.uk, as a central reference point for community-sector funding available from government.

At launch, the site will carry information and links for about 20 funding schemes available from the Home Office, Education, Health and the successor departments to the DTLR. But Chris Perry, head of IT at the Home Office, has a bigger agenda: ‘The website is stage 1.

Next we’ll move to a portal platform, which will give us a much more dynamic site.’ The intention is not only to expand the grants information base to cover all government departments but also to develop an online application form that will eventually include electronic tracking of an applicant’s progress through the system.
