The UK Film Council has awarded £40,000 to the production and distribution agency B3 Media, to stimulate more work from first-time black and minority-ethnic film-makers. The deal adds B3 Media to the Film Council’s network of 12 regional and national agencies supported by the Film Council’s New Cinema Fund, which are encouraging the making of digital short films by new talent. As well as B3 Media, the Film Council announced second-year funding for six of the partners: Lighthouse, Screen East, North West Vision, Screen West Midlands and EM Media, each of which receives £44,000. The council also allocated £50,000 to Sgrîn Cymru Wales for its parallel Screen Gems scheme.
